The 'Worcester Society of Artists' was formed to encourage the
appreciation, understanding and practice of the visual arts for all
within the local area' and, as such, is open to anyone wishing to join.
The Society was founded in 1947, moving to the Swan Theatre in
1965 for regular meetings and exhibitions. We now meet at the
Bromwich Road Mission, St John's, Worcester and we can be found
there most Monday evenings, at 7:30. Our weekly meetings include
demonstrations and talks by professional artists, visiting lecturers
and our own members. There are also many Workshop Evenings
where the various artistic themes are explored in practice
Our aim is to inspire our members, whatever their ability, to make
use of and improve their skills and, although we do not give
organised lessons, beginners will find the more experienced
members always willing to help.
The Society has a prestigious Annual Exhibition at Worcester City Art
Gallery, and also provides various other opportunities for displaying
and selling works of art.
